When it comes to luxury kitchen design, the possibilities are endless. The benefit of truly bespoke kitchen design is the level of personal tailoring. Bespoke design allows you to design a space that’s not only functional but one that truly reflects you and your loved ones. A successful lifestyle kitchen design follows your natural rhythm and lifestyle rather than forcing you to adapt to the space.  What works perfectly for someone is a nightmare for another, that’s why it is particularly important to design not only for aesthetics, but lifestyle as a whole.

Factoring the needs of each individual client is paramount. With a truly bespoke and tailored design a professional designer will take time to learn and understand you as a client, and make suggestions based on your exact and required needs.

There are multiple factors to consider when designing, a few examples of lifestyles are as follows.

  • Family living
  • Entertaining
  • Cooking-focused / chef-style
  • Minimalist living
  • Mature living
  • Small/space saving design

Whether you’re planning your forever family home or a space to impress, you can rest assured that a truly bespoke kitchen design will meet all your requirements.

Why Lifestyle Kitchen Design Matters

Different households will use their kitchen differently, that’s a fact. Designing with a lifestyle led approach ensures that your kitchen is functional specifically to you. Many people can get caught up with aesthetics, or a particular idea that may leave a space feeling less usable for their particular lifestyle. The core principle of lifestyle kitchen design is creating a space that supports the way you live every day.

There are many key indicators of good design, some are as follows:

  • Functionality
  • Workflow efficiency
  • Storage efficiency
  • Long-term satisfaction
  • Better daily usability

If designed well, a space should last a lifetime. It can grow alongside you, grow with you. If a space is ergonomically designed, it means there is room to grow into. Not only this but a well designed space can save you time from your daily tasks and save you financially if designed with quality products and craftsmanship.

Minimalist Kitchens

When designing a Minimalist kitchen, it’s all about simplicity and refinement. The choice of quality materials should speak for the space. The materiality and tone of the project takes precedents. High quality materials help a minimalist project read as expensive, curated and intentional.  Minimalist kitchens require polish and sophistication in order to feel intentional. The use of pocket doors and bespoke elements can be a great way to keep storage and countertop appliances hidden away when not in use, maintaining a clean and minimalist appearance. Flush mounting appliances within the design can also be the perfect way to maintain a minimalist appearance, keeping everything sleek and refined. In a minimalist setting, lifestyle kitchen design combines simplicity with functionality to create a calm and uncluttered environment.

Key design points for minimalist kitchens:

  • Focus: simplicity + concealment

    • Concealed storage

    • Precision detailing
    • Strong planning

Open-Plan Living Integration

When designing an open-Plan living space it should align with the lifestyle of the client . It allows a space to feel airy, spacious and unrestricted. It is a design style that invites connection and openness. Open-plan design can go beyond just the kitchen and living area, but its connection with indoor/outdoor living as well as circulation around the entire home. Open plan spaces become the gathering space in any home, a place to socialise and a place to connect. Materiality can be used as a great way to link the space, providing visual continuity. Open-plan layouts are a popular feature of modern lifestyle kitchen design, encouraging connection between cooking, dining and living spaces.

  • Kitchen connected to:
    • Dining spaces
    • Living areas
    • Gardens
    • Workspaces
  • Goal:
    • Visual continuity

Materials

Materiality is one of the most important deciding factors in any kitchen renovation. Materials define the feel, warmth, aesthetics of the space. Layering of different materials can give your kitchen project further depth and uniqueness. Natural wood can give your space an earthy and grounded feeling whilst painted frontals can add a pop of colour or peaceful neutrality. Metallic finishes can add visual interest and worktops can create a striking feature or a cohesive blend.

What to consider when choosing materials for your next project.

  • Options:
    • Oak / walnut veneers
    • Quartz / stone worktops
    • Matt lacquer
    • Textured timber
  • Choice depends on:
    • Durability needs
    • Aesthetic direction
    • Usage patterns

Planning Questions

  • Who uses the kitchen?
  • Cooking vs social balance?
  • Entertaining frequency?
  • Storage requirements?
  • Open vs concealed preference?
  • Key appliances needed?

We couldn’t be happier with our lovely kitchen from Point 5. Wojtek was extremely helpful from start to finish. He listened to us carefully and took time to understand our needs and likes and was very tolerant of our indecision. He came up with some lovely design features that we had not seen elsewhere and now couldn’t imagine our kitchen without such as a countertop sliding cupboard for all our teas and coffees. He did not overwhelm us with too many choices as happened elsewhere and made some inspired suggestions for a colour scheme which we love and which has been much admired. He never once gave us the hard sell, instead he always made a point of showing us the cheaper options as well the pricier. The units are custom made in Poland, so it usually takes at least 10 weeks between ordering and delivery. We were working to a budget so wasted some time looking for cheaper options but could not find anything matching the quality and style but as a result were a little slow in making our decision. However, Wojtek and the team did their utmost to fit into our builder’s schedule and supplied and fitted the kitchen in record time. The after care has been exemplary when we needed some adjustments that I have to admit were down to us not listening to good advice. I highly recommend this company.

An excellent experience from start to finish. Their design process was professional and collaborative, resulting in a kitchen and dressing room that look great and work perfectly for our space. Communication was clear throughout, and the after-sales service has been responsive and helpful, which we really appreciated. Three years on and we're still happy. Manuel, Tomasz and the Point 5 team are a pleasure to work with and we would not hesitate to recommend them.

I have never had such a good experience with any company! Point 5 Kitchens is on another level. About 4 years ago, they made for me a full kitchen, bathroom cabinets, wardrobes, and bespoke cupboards. The quality is outstanding – everything is solid, beautifully made, and still looks like new today. The furniture feels very special, elegant, and of the highest standard. It is clear that the materials and craftsmanship are first-class, and the result is something unique and long-lasting. What I really like is not only the excellent quality, but also their service. They listen carefully, give helpful advice, and make sure every detail is perfect. Recently I asked them to adjust a cupboard door. They came the very next day and fixed it straight away – fast, friendly, and professional. It is rare to find a company that offers such exceptional quality, reliability, and care for customers. Point 5 Kitchens goes above and beyond, and I can honestly recommend them to anyone who wants beautiful, high-end furniture and a company they can truly trust.
